How Embracing Your State of Being Transforms Outcomes
I used to think happiness lived on the other side of my goals. But what if it’s been within me all along?
In a world driven by goals, achievements, and results, it’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing solely on the outcome.
Success is often measured by what we accomplish rather than who we become in the process.
Yet, this approach can lead to burnout, dissatisfaction, and a sense of emptiness even when we achieve what we’ve set out to do.
The key to a more fulfilling and sustainable life lies in shifting our focus from outcomes to our state of being.
By cultivating the right mindset, habits, and energy, the results naturally follow, becoming an organic extension of who we are.
My Struggles with Focusing Solely on the Outcome
For much of my adult life, being outcome-focused came at a high cost.
I was rarely satisfied, always wanting more, and this constant striving often triggered my depression and anxiety.
Achievements and milestones became fleeting moments of joy, quickly overshadowed by my internal pressure to do more, achieve more, and avoid mistakes at all costs.
I found myself beating myself up over failures, expecting too much from those around me, and prioritizing work over friends, family, and even my own well-being.
My addiction to producing results left little room for enjoying the process, and I was constantly playing not to lose, rather than trusting my inner capabilities to play to win.
Being vs. Doing
Our society glorifies action.
“Hustle culture” teaches us that the harder and faster we work, the closer we get to our goals.
While effort is important, it becomes counterproductive when divorced from intentionality and alignment.
The paradox is that true progress often comes not from relentless doing, but from focused being.
When we prioritize our state of being, we tap into qualities like mindfulness, resilience, and purpose.
For example, rather than aiming solely to “get fit,” focusing on being someone who values health, vitality, and self-care transforms fitness into a natural byproduct.
Similarly, shifting from wanting “financial success” to being someone who embodies discipline, creativity, and abundance will lead to financial growth without the constant pressure to chase it.
My Inner Work To Heal
Through shadow work and meditation, I uncovered that much of this drive stemmed from a deep-seated lack of self-worth.
I struggled to see myself as deserving or worthy of my accomplishments, and no amount of success could fill that void.
This lack of worthiness was hardwired into my subconscious, shaping my beliefs and identity.
It wasn’t until I confronted these blocks and allowed myself the space to acknowledge my inherent worthiness that I began to shift.
Letting go of the shame and perfectionism enabled me to focus more on who I am being rather than what I am achieving.
While some days I may fall short, I feel lighter, more present, and more aligned.
I’m a recovering workaholic and perfectionist, committed to the daily practice of showing up as my best self and trusting the process.
Looking ahead, the possibilities from this state of being far surpass any outcome-driven goals I once chased.
The Ripple Effect of Being
Our state of being sets the tone for everything we do.
When we prioritize qualities such as gratitude, confidence, and calm, those energies ripple into our actions and relationships.
People are naturally drawn to individuals who embody these positive states, creating opportunities and outcomes that feel effortless.
Contrast this with the energy of chasing. When we become fixated on results, we often act out of fear, scarcity, or impatience.
This energy not only drains us, but can also push the very outcomes we desire further away.
Instead, aligning with the right state of being creates a magnetizing effect, attracting the results we want in ways that often surpass our expectations.
The Inevitable Outcomes
When you focus on your state of being, the results take care of themselves.
Think of a tree that doesn’t strive to produce fruit; instead, it focuses on rooting deeply, absorbing sunlight, and thriving in its environment. The fruit is a natural outcome of the tree’s state of being.
Similarly, when you embody qualities like patience, focus, and authenticity, success manifests as a reflection of your internal alignment.
Life is not a race to achieve but a journey to become.
By shifting your focus from outcomes to your state of being, you create a foundation for lasting success and fulfillment.
Who you are shapes what you do, and what you do determines the results you achieve.
Embrace the power of being, and watch as the results naturally follow.
