Writing saved me. Maybe it’ll save you too.

What if the key to thinking clearer, feeling lighter, and being more creative was as simple as putting pen to paper?

With so much on our minds these days, all these thoughts are rattling around in our heads. They can certainly bog us down and get in the way of the important things in life.

That’s why I wake up, pour a cup of coffee, and crack open my journal to put my thoughts on paper.

Not because I want to—because I need to.

It’s a way to lighten my load and overcome the not-so-awesome thoughts within and around me.

We all deal with negative stuff in our lives, but when these things are always following us around they limit our true potential.

Journaling is a powerful way to inject clarity, focus, and direction into your life.

Starting is simple. Find a notebook, grab a pen, and complete a few pages of stream of consciousness writing.

There will be days that you don’t feel like writing—write anyway.

The magic comes from pushing yourself to put thoughts on paper. It doesn’t matter what you write either. Write whatever pops into your head.

Write, and the truth will fall out of your pen. Because slowly, without your realizing it, your words are healing you.

Whatever injury you suffered, whether that be a blow to your confidence, a lack of certainty, or a sudden devastating change in your life, the journal acts as a rock you can rely on.

You can bounce ideas off the page, revel in accomplishments, rant about your kids, or vent your emotions in any way you want.

When you put those heavy thoughts trapped in circular thinking down on paper and observe them, they lose their power. They are no longer stuck to you.

Journaling has helped me climb out of a limiting mindset and into a healthier, more productive one.

Journaling won’t be a cure-all, but it can serve as a catalyst to turn you into the type of person you always wanted to be.

If you can get through a month of writing, you will not want to stop. You will find yourself thinking clearer and being more creative.

What do you have to lose? Grab a pen and paper and start decluttering your brain today.
